Villa Aguila

Costa del Sol, Spain

Welcome to Villa Aguila

Villa Aguila is more than just a holiday retreat—it’s our family home, a place filled with stories, laughter, and cherished moments across three generations. From the moment we first set foot here, we knew it was something special. Nestled in the hills of Mijas, it offers a rare blend of seclusion and connection, tradition and modern comfort.

Over the years, we’ve lovingly restored and reimagined this space, keeping its Spanish charm while making thoughtful updates to enhance comfort and privacy. Whether it’s unwinding by the pool, waking up to the scent of citrus trees, or simply soaking in the peaceful surroundings, we hope you’ll feel as at home here as we do.

The Area

Villa Aguila is perched in the sought-after urbanisation of Cerros del Aguila, just minutes inland from Fuengirola Castle Beach. It’s an ideal location—only 20 minutes from Málaga International Airport and a short drive from the charming fishing village and market town of La Cala de Mijas. The popular Miramar Shopping Centre & Cinema Complex is nearby, as are three professional golf courses and the Hipódromo Horse Racing Course.

Originally developed by the Danish in the 1980s, Cerros del Aguila has grown into a vibrant international community, home to Scandinavian, British, Dutch, French, and Spanish residents. Within the urbanisation, you’ll find two friendly local bars, a restaurant, and a well-stocked supermarket offering freshly baked bread. The community also features a large swimming pool, tennis courts, and beautifully maintained gardens, making it a welcoming space for residents and visitors alike.

The Story of Our Family Home

Villa Aguila’s story begins in 1989 when it was built by a Danish captain who named it “Casa Tania” after his mother. Its neighbouring villa bore his daughter’s name—just one of the many personal touches woven into this home’s history. When we first discovered it, we were drawn to its unique setting: well connected yet wonderfully private, with only one neighbouring villa and backing onto preserved agricultural land.

It wasn’t in perfect condition when we found it, but that only made us love it more. The graceful arches, marble floors, and handcrafted stonework spoke of a timeless Spanish elegance we knew we wanted to preserve. Throughout our renovations, we carefully restored these original features while making updates that would bring more light, comfort, and practicality to the home. The arched designs in the front porch, kitchen, and living room remain a tribute to its heritage, and in the guest toilet, we kept the original stone tiles, flooring, and copper door handles as a small but meaningful nod to the past.

A Remodelled Space for Greater Comfort

To make Villa Aguila even more inviting, we remodelled the ground floor to align with modern expectations of comfort and privacy. Each bedroom now has its own ensuite shower, offering a more private and luxurious experience. We also redesigned the layout to maximise natural light and improve access to the pool from every room, creating a seamless flow between indoor and outdoor spaces. The result is a home that feels both spacious and intimate—a place to retreat, relax, and reconnect.

The Outdoor Space

One of the things we love most about Villa Aguila is its lush, mature garden. Some of the trees here are older than the villa itself, standing as silent witnesses to the years gone by. In the front garden, you’ll find grapefruit and fig trees that have been here for over 35 years. In the back, we’ve added lemon, orange, and kumquat trees, along with a selection of fresh herbs—bringing a true taste of the Mediterranean right to your doorstep.

The outdoor space isn’t just for admiring—it’s for enjoying. Whether it’s sipping your morning coffee under the shade of the trees, dipping into the pool on a warm afternoon, or simply listening to the sounds of nature, this is a place to slow down and savour the moment.

Thoughtful Details for a Relaxing Stay

Villa Aguila isn’t just a house—it’s a home. Every detail has been considered with comfort in mind, ensuring that guests feel just as at ease here as we do.

Soft ambient lighting in the bedrooms and bathrooms creates a soothing atmosphere. Walk-in showers feature non-slip tiles and bespoke floor-to-ceiling panels, adding a touch of modern luxury. Two master suites offer adults a space to unwind, while the bunk beds make an inviting retreat for little ones. Even the air conditioning has been thoughtfully placed to provide a cool breeze without direct airflow—because we know that the little things can make all the difference.

We hope Villa Aguila will be more than just a stay for you—it’s a place to make memories, to reconnect with loved ones, and to experience the beauty of this special part of Spain.

Welcome to our home—we hope you love it as much as we do.
